Film Genre Research - Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th begins with a subtle, calm singing of a song around a fire. The group of teenagers is seemingly happy and unbothered. Then, the editing cuts to a dark, segregated location with a couple kissing. Suddenly, the boy is killed which gives a horrifying effect to the film. The camera shots feature "hidden" shots in which it appears to look like a point-of-view shot of someone hiding which adds to the spooky effect. The sounds are muffled until the scream releases from the girl who was with the boy when he was killed. A few job titles that are featured are executive producers, directors, and editing management. The budget for this film was $700,000. The film made over $59.8 million dollars. The film won the MTV Lifetime Achievement Award.
