Film Production - Scout Locations
Payne Park. A great place to strengthen your skills as an extreme athlete. This particular skatepark has been home to many young kids and some who have grown with the park and are now adults showing the younger generation how it's done. Most of the people here share the same goal, going pro one day and getting paid to do what they love every day. Kids come and go but there are some who go the distance and Payne Park skate park is a perfect place to start a career of a lifetime. We, Abby and Dawson, thought it would be an awesome idea to put something like this together in a film.
After looking for the best spots to get some of this action caught on camera these are the ones we thought were the best. One of the locations we picked is in the deep section of the skatepark. We get a few shots on the platform near the eight-foot wall. This ramp got our attention because it's very intimidating to someone not used to it and it was the tallest ramp where you can walk without feeling too scared. This is where do an over the shoulder and close up shots to show this reaction. Another spot we picked was the parking lot of the skatepark. This is where you may feel the adrenaline kicking in. You get out of the car and you know you're about to take a big risk but it could be very fun. It's hard not to be excited as you're unpacking and looking forward to entering the park. We got an angle from inside the trunk that was useful to establish mood. This is why we made the choice to make sure to include this location in the film. The next location that deserves to be apart of this film is the snake run. This part of the park is great for a beginner but with developed skills, it can sure be taken a lot more serious. It also is an awesome location to get a tracking shot. Another location is the "ground level" of the skatepark. This is normally where someone who is not using the skatepark to watch and maybe motivate the person or people they are therewith. This is a safe place to get handheld footage and implement some dialogue into the film. One of the last locations we used for this was the walk up until you're at the door that separates you and a place you can be great be in control and meet a few friends. This path is our establishing footage to 'Payne Park'.
