Art of the Title Class Activity

Today in class we analyzed some title sequences from artofthetitle.com. One introduction that I recognized as done very well with the significant meaning shown through various features was Gone Girl. The use of the titles appearing, fading, and then disappearing is highlighting the theme of a missing person which is the center of the movie. The numerous shots of shops and abandoned buildings around the town show to the viewer that it is not a place of drama, reporters, or out-of-normal activities. Also, the scene at the beginning picturing the husband stroking his wife's hair is foundational as that is how the movie ends, showing the director made the movie come full circle. A few things I would like to use in our movie are using the font, the appearance of the titles, and opening shots to give the theme before the viewer is even aware of what it is. The absence of intense dialogue also gives viewers an eerie mood as not much is said, symbolic of how little information was given to the husband when his wife left.
