Digital Distribution - Minding the Gap

The first documentary, Minding the Gap, made by an individual filmmaker, tells the story of three boys whose strongest bond is their favorite activity, skateboarding. The digital distribution of this film was interesting as they published it through a TV network. PBS supported the documentary by playing it on their channel, targeting all the regular watchers of the network. Also, the filmmaker utilized iTunes as a distribution technique to allow viewers to watch on a digital device. They had a world premiere at Sundance after signing away distribution rights to a larger company named Dogwoof. I think putting our film on iTunes would be beneficial as it reaches an entirely new audience with everyone who uses the app. I also like the idea of having a grand premiere on a large-scale basis in order to draw attention from the public as well as companies who may be interested in promoting.
